Who's better?

Two hitters, side by side. See which one Stat Above Average ranks higher — and exactly where the gap comes from.

Stat Above Average is one number built from five things — batting average, power, walk rate, base-stealing, and defense — scaled to a full season, dampened for years past a player's prime, and blended half career total, half best-seven peak. That means any two players' ranking gap can be taken apart and handed back to you: this much is defense, this much is the extra seasons, this much is one player's bat. Pick two.
